Here's where Houston flooded the most and least

September 21, 2017

Harvey damaged or destroyed some 127,600 single-family homes in the Houston area, according to the most recent data from the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

But some Houston neighborhoods escaped Harvey’s wrath, including Montrose and Fall Creek. Click through the slideshow to see which communities weren’t affected by the flooding.

Paige Martin, a broker associate with Keller Williams Memorial, has identified several communities and condos on her Houston Properties website that did not experience any flooding.

However, many areas in Houston experienced several feet of rain. The National Weather Service released a Post Tropical Cyclone Report for Harvey on Sept. 6 with the latest rainfall numbers. At the top of the list was Mont Belvieu and Friendswood. They had measurements of 51.88 and 50.04 inches, respectively.

As for Houston's residential real estate market post-Harvey, Martin said Houston will experience an increase in rentals and condos with sales declining in the flooded areas.

She predicts that because of Harvey, it will be a perfect opportunity for homebuyers because many who were thinking of purchasing a new house were impacted by the flooding and may postpone the decision. But if buyers decide to continue with the purchase, they may be able to get a good deal.

The following neighborhoods experienced little to no flooding:

  • Lizzieton Terrace

  • Brenwood Park

  • Canyon Gate

  • Denver Harbor

  • Hudson Oaks

  • Garden Villas

  • Lupton Ct

  • Norhill Heights

  • Oakbrook West

  • Stonebridge

  • Sunnyside

  • Village Creek

  • Wildwood at Northpointe
